Adopt a Beagle

Beagle

The Beagle is a medium-sized breed that belongs to the hound group. Though many variations of this breed have existed throughout history, the modern breed emerged from the early 1800s England. Beagles are popular pets because of their size, cuteness, and calm temperament. They are useful to hunters, as well, due to their incredible sense of smell.

If you are looking to adopt a Beagle, then you should know that The Beagle has a short and coarse coat that sheds quite a lot. When you adopt a Beagle, they require daily brushing, but other than that, don’t require an abundant amount of care. They have an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years, and while they are generally healthy, have a variety of health ailments that can affect them later in life. These include glaucoma, epilepsy, central progressive retinal atrophy (CPRA), hypothyroidism, distichiasis, chondrodysplasia, and cherry eye.

Beagles are known to be among the most friendly of the hound breeds. They love exploring the outdoors and sniffing anything they can. Due to their sense of smell, they are known to wander if given the chance, and thus a fenced lawn is recommended. Beagles are calm, tolerant, and playful dogs, which is what makes them the perfect family pet for any household with children.
